aliss_blackout_hrt_bandits This is not the type of music that would make its way into my collection... let alone heavy rotation, so- bravo, Miz Thang!!! I honestly haven't paid attention much to song titles, I just put this on and let go. I'm enjoying the track American Queers- its got groove and soul, its well written... it makes a statement that I can ID with. This music is at once anthemic and sexy. And the artist is Hot AF...

I’m so tired of everyone Shooting their words and pointing their guns I want to paint on every wall with Glitter and Blood and Glitter and Blood and Glitter and— Hey! Whoa-Oh Hey! I don’t care what day it is What week of the month or month of the year I flash and bang in silver tones In oceany blues and yellowy hues You never seen Hey! Whoa-Oh Hey! Glitter and blood run through the vein I kill all my demons every day Cause I’ll ride this train with or without you Like a shooting star, far away Cause this world is gonna change I don’t care what you become I’m gonna live my life and have my fun Before the house goes up in flames I’m gonna burn like the sun, get ready and run And ready and— Hey! Whoa-Oh Hey! Glitter and blood run through the vein I kill all my demons every day Cause I’ll ride this train with or without you Like a shooting star, far away Cause this world is gonna change

Power! 03:45
I’m on my way, this is for me For me I’m going to break this space They can’t hold me Hold me Cause I never knew when I was right I’ve been running all my life It took me seven years But now I finally found my light With God herself right behind me I finally found my way and I got Power! Power! See me now, how far I’ve come How much I’ve lost, and all I’ve won I’m still alive And so thankful I made it Cause I have been through hell and back With a foot upon my neck I have shed too many tears And now I’m never going back Cause all the world couldn’t stop me I am here to stay and I got Power! Power! Gay Power! Trans Power! Butch Power! Femme Power! Queer Power! It’s all ours! It’s our world and we have POWER! I’m on my way, this is for me For me I’m going to break this space They can’t hold me Hold me Cause I never knew when I was right I’ve been running all my life It took me seven years But now I finally found my light With God herself right behind me I finally found my way and I got Power! Power! Power! Power!

The paint on my lips is a blood red We’re teeming with life but we’re all dead We write on the walls, Dance in the street We kick our heels on the concrete And my skirt’s too short My wig’s too long We don’t ever feel like we belong We belong American We’re American Queers American Queers We hold our breath out in the street We hold our hands in the backseat Kiss my lips, and touch me Teach me to learn how to be free And my chest is bound My ass is round We are the lost that can never be found Never be found American We’re American Queers American Queers American We’re American Queers American Queers

Every day is a fist fight Feeling more and more like I don’t fit right Faking what I know for sure, isn’t me I feel like I’m the only one With no one around I can become Searching through a starless sky An arm and a leg For a shot and a pill Draw up enough Then point and kill I’m going to move away I’m going to change my name Bleach all my hairs Wash it all away Why was I born in this crazy place I don’t see myself in my face Maybe I will one day I’m going to move away I’m going to change my name Bleach all my hairs Wash it all away Why was I born in this crazy place I don’t see myself in my face Maybe I will one day Maybe I will one day Maybe I will one day

Hold me, I’m broken I’m just floating, along Baby, I’m just floating along I don’t know what I feel There’s nobody out here Just me and my fears I’ve fallen out of sight lately And I’m feeling so lonely I’m falling down and out my baby False start again How did I ever even get here? Was I ever even real at all I’ve given everything I have, yea To float on again I stay up all night Shake until the daylight Cause nothing feels right I’ve fallen out of sight lately And I’m feeling so lonely I’m falling down and out my baby False start again How did I ever even get here? Was I ever even real at all I’ve given everything I have, yea To float on again

I’ll never be what you had in your thoughts Let’s get this one thing straight, Baby I’m not If you can’t abide, well that’s ok Cause I’m gonna live on Anyways Anyways Anyways Anyways Anyways I’m a genderfluid, glorious jubilee I dress myself, a little differently And I don’t care whatever body you’re born Wear your horns Live on, anyways Anyways Anyways Anyways Anyways Cause I’m gonna be whatever I want to be And I don’t need you I’ve got this one, old life to lead And I won’t get caught up in your misery

Off My Body 03:44
I am divine Natural Made myself From the earth, a woman’s work I take what I have, make it better baby Fix all the wrongs, make them right Because I know myself more than anyone From all this dark, I make light So Keep your laws off my body I am heavenly I was made this way Keep your laws off my body All the angels up In heaven are boundary-less We grow up just to be free I love myself and my right to choose What I do and who I go with From the rush of my blood running through my veins The life that spills forth from my lips So Keep your laws off my body I am heavenly I was made this way Keep your laws off my body Keep your laws off my body I am heavenly I was made this way Keep your laws off my body

about

American Queers is my debut album. A symbol of my confidence as an artist and as a person. Like me, the songs are complex. Loud and proud.

For this album, I wanted to channel those artists who paved the path before me. Who used their music to inspire social change. James Brown shouting “Say It Loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud!”. Joan Jett powerfully strumming her guitar, not giving a damn about her “bad reputation.” People who were proud of their stigmatized identities and broke free from their oppressive stereotypes. I’m a proud Asian American, transgender woman and it’s with the spirit of those artists, that I wrote this album. Not just for people like me, but for anyone has felt confined to a role in life that they didn’t choose for themselves.

As with Splendor Dysphoria, American Queers was 100% self produced. I wrote all the songs, produced all the music, played all the instruments/vocals, recorded, mixed and mastered every song myself. I do this partly because I love music in all its aspects. But more importantly, I want my music and my message to be completely unadulterated. Producing myself, I have complete control. No one can tell me what to say or not say. I write about what I want and I make it sound exactly the way I want. In an industry traditionally plagued by racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, imperialist, fatphobic gatekeepers, I embrace the DIY culture. I make my own path and I create my own success. Of course, collaboration with like-minded artists can be incredibly powerful. However, for this album, I wanted to make a statement of my independence and my abilities.

Finally, American Queers is a celebration. A celebration of the beautiful spectrum of life experience and identity that is unique to all of us. A celebration of all of you who have supported queer, independent or DIY music. Those who have shared space with me physically, digitally or emotionally. I appreciate you all so much and I could not have done any of this without you. Please enjoy these songs as my tribute to inspiring artists past, present and future and, most importantly, to you. Thank you
